I received a message from someone I have always admired telling me how much she enjoys the blog but that she is not sure how to interact with them. What is a blog? Specifically, “what can your readers do to help your blog succeed?” I have been so caught up in getting my blog up and running that I just assumed everyone knew what a blog was. It was a great exchange that gave me pause. A question that I wanted to seriously think about and approach in a manner that not only helps my readers but others as well!
What is a Blog:
Blogs originated as personal journals or space to share one’s thoughts and opinions housed on the web. It articles information and displays it with the latest post showing up first. It is updated on a regular basis, unlike websites where the pages and information are more static.
How you can support a blog you love {ie. The LayaB}:
- Read it 🙂 We are sharing content for you to enjoy!
- Like It! Like or comment! Let the author know what you like about that content. Answer the question in the caption. Let them know what you want to know more about.
- Share it! Share it! Share It! If you read a post that you love, please share it with someone else that you think will love it! Share posts with your friends and loved ones on social, via text or email, just share it so it can reach more people!
- Pray for it! I started TheLayab.com because I was called to by God (I ignored it for a while out of fear but he has given signs almost daily that this is what I need to be doing right now). I pray daily that he puts on my heart to share the things you all need.
How do you start blog:
Setting up a blog is the easy part. Being consistent, creating good content, and promoting it is the hard part. In this post, I share how to set up a blog/website using WordPress.
Can you make money with a blog:
The short answer is yes! Is it easy, no! In order to monetize you have to put in the work. Build up your site, product quality content, and give yourself time to build some credibility.
A few ways to earn money as a blogger:
- Affiliate marketing- when your favorite blogger posts a link on their website they may earn a commission on your purchase (so you definitely want to support them by purchasing through their link).
- Selling their own products
- Selling ad space on their blog
- Brand partnerships
What can we expect from your blog:
The LayaB is a lifestyle blog. A place where I can share my interest and experiences and thoughts with you all. I have always been the researcher, planner, and the one who wants to do things the proper way. Using nice glasses for wine and building charcuterie boards on a random day is fun for me! But ultimately, I want to inspire you to live your best life. I want to give you the tools to show up for the people you love at your very best 🙂
My blog is almost 2 months old and I still have a ton to learn so expect updates to the post. I hope I at least know what a blog is and how to support one!
