For my husband’s birthday last year, we took a cocktail making class at Bar Margot inside of the Four Seasons! Tandy was AMAZING and when things open back up, I would highly recommend checking her out. One of our favorite drinks was the red sangria we made but the ingredients have not been easy to come by! Below you will find my remix on that sangria. It’s easy to make ahead and will definitely have you feeling NICE ::Fab voice::
Ingredients:
- 1 C Spiced simple syrup— directions below
- Whole cloves
- Whole allspice
- Cinnamon stick
- Pure Anise Extract (you can also use flowers)
- 1 C sugar
- 1 C water
- 1 bottle of your favorite red wine
- 3 shots of triple sec
- 3 shots of white rum
- 1 can of sprite or ginger ale
- 2 oranges
- 2 limes
- 8 strawberries
Directions:
- Combine all liquid ingredients in a cute pitcher and stir
- Cut up the fruit and use half for people to garnish their cups and half to put in your sangria mix above
This makes about 6-8 servings over ice, depending on the size of your glass!
Spiced simple syrup
- Add water and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat and whisk together
- Bring to a boil stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved, about 5-8mins
- Add in 1 stick of cinnamon, 1 tsp pure anise extract (or 2 flowers), 2 whole cloves, 5 whole allspice beads
- Let boil for 1 minute
- Remove from heat and let herbs steep for about 30 minutes
- Let cool completely before using
- Store in a mason jar or airtight container in the fridge for up to a month — If you have seen my other recipes I love simple syrup
Hit me on social and let me know how you like to make your Sangria! I hope you enjoy!!
XOXO, Laya
