I don’t know about you, but I have 10 bridesmaid dresses in my closet, and only a few could be worn again. Some brides go with their vision no matter what, but I wanted to pick a dress that was flattering for everyone. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, so that was easier said than done. Keep reading for a few tips on how I was able to select bridesmaid dresses everyone loved!
Share Your Vision
I selected the color and knew I wanted a long dress, but beyond that, I was open. I asked my ladies to share dresses that fit into that vision and also aligned with the formality of the event. It gave me an idea of their style and cut down on a little work for me.
Listen To Feedback
I don’t have big boobs, so when I shop for dresses I never think about support or coverage. Well, the majority of my bridal party was busty. They kindly let me know that my first selection wouldn’t work unless I wanted to give a real show lol. Make sure your voice is strong enough to not get lost, but ask their honest opinions on your selections.
You know your girls, so it may be less stressful to do this step with a few ladies vs. them all. That way you can get honest feedback without feeling like your taste is being attacked.
Try Them On
Have a few bridesmaids with different body types, go with you to try on your top choices. This will help you finalize your decision. Seeing them on real people, not models, will really give you a true feel for the dress! Can they move in it? Is it comfortable? Does the fabric look cheap? Try to see the dresses in person if you can.
At the end of the day, ask yourself would you wear it. I don’t know what kind of friends you all are, but I wanted my ladies to look their best! I’ve read about brides not wanting anyone to outshine them, I don’t subscribe to that! Them looking good, only makes you look better! Include them in the process, where you can, and try to have fun with it!
XOXO,
Laya
