Due to COVID, all the fun events where we could usually grab a funnel cake were canceled! We know how much everyone loves them, so my sister Cat William and I decided to make a few dreams come true! Outside is back open, but we are still making these yummy funnel cakes at home! She has an amazing food website that you must check out! The options for toppings are limitless so these funnel cakes can be tailored to all tastes and events!
Ingredients:
- 2 C All-Purpose flour
- 5 TBS granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 C milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil
- Optional: Powder sugar, cinnamon, and sugar, chocolate, or fruit topping
Directions:
- Heat vegetable oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat
- In a mixing bowl, whisk all dry ingredients together
- Add wet ingredients to the dry mix until combined
- Line a plate with a paper towel to catch the oil
- Check to make sure the oil is hot (370F) — I like to drop a little batter in there to make sure it’s ready
- Pour mix into a measuring cup, funnel, or pastry bag to design your funnel cake
- Add batter to oil and cook on each side for about 90 seconds
- Dress it to your liking and enjoy
NOTE: Makes about 6 cakes depending on the size
