We have been making Puppy Chow for as long as I can remember! It’s the one holiday treat that we make multiple batches of upfront because we will legit fight over it! This classic recipe is actually called muddies buddies by General Mills. I have no idea where the name Puppy Chow came from, but that is what we have always called it. lol
Ingredients:
- 7 C Rice Chex cereal
- 1 C semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 C unsalted butter
- 1/2 C creamy peanut butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 C powdered sugar
Directions:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter on high in 30-second intervals
- Add vanilla extract and stir until combined
- Pour cereal into a large mixing bowl and cover with the chocolate mixture- I stir/sake in thirds using a spatula, it’s easier to get everything coated this way
- Pour covered mixture into a large Ziploc bag and shake with powdered sugar – I also do this in thirds
- Spread on parchment paper to cool/set and store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks
I have not met a single person that doesn’t like Puppy Chow. It has all the things sweet treats are made of! It is messy so prepare yourself if you have little ones but tis’ the season 🙂 We are almost to the end of my #12DaysofChristams but I really hope you are enjoying them!
XOXO, Laya
