If you have not guessed by now, we are remixing classics this year! We all have traditions but small tweaks give you a call back to the past while allowing you to make it your own. Kids love rice crispy treats and they are so easy to make, these Gingerbread Rice Crispy Treats are still fun but a little more grown-up!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 16 oz. bag mini marshmallows
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1/8 tsp. clove
- 8 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 12 oz. white chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp. shortening
Directions:
- Spray a 13×9″ pan and set it aside
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat
- Add marshmallows and stir until melted
- Stir in vanilla, molasses, ginger, and clove
- Remove from heat, and quickly stir Rice Krispies cereal –If you leave on the heat you will cook the cereal, which you don’t want
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips and shortening
- Heat in 15-second intervals until melted and smooth. Repeat intervals, with stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- Spread melted chocolate evenly over bars.
- Allow to set, about 20-30 minutes. Cut into bars.
