I have been a hopeless romantic my entire life. I love all things love. The cheesier the act, the better! I was having a conversation with a friend around Valentine’s Day and he felt like romance was too much work. BLASPHEMY! Being romantic doesn’t have to be hard, just thoughtful.
The number one rule when planning something romantic for your partner is to keep them in mind. Seriously it’s that easy. Does she have monthly reporting at work that you know takes a lot out of her? Why not send her money for daily coffees that week each month?
Another misconception is that being romantic has to be expensive. Did you know you can learn how to give your partner a massage on YouTube? Guess how much that cost? NOTHING!! Light a few candles and blow their mind with your new skills.
One other complaint I hear is it takes too much time to plan something. Do you have 30 mins you can carve out of one day? Go to the store and buy 5 greeting cards. Write special notes in each one, add a stamp and address them all to your partner. Drop one in the mail a month. It will instantly brighten their day and it cost you 2 mins of time after the initial work is done.
My least favorite complaint comes from my husband. You can only go out to eat for date night so many times. First of all, I always want to eat! lol Second, why not plan some themed picnics at the house. A night with all my favorite snacks. Seafood or pasta night. Not having to figure out dinner gets me going long before you light a candle 😉
Being romantic doesn’t have to be hard. Take a few minutes and think about the things your partner enjoys. As long as their love language is not receiving gifts, I am pretty sure they will love whatever you come up with. Now stop making excuses and go plan something special for your significant other! Valentine’s Day was a month ago!
XOXO, Laya
