Decorating my home was one of the things I most looked forward to when started our search! Since we have been sheltering in place most of the year a change was definitely necessary!
A few people have mentioned to me that they would love to decorate but have no idea where to start! This post will give you some tips on how to decorate your home for the fall season!
Get Some Inspiration
I have the worst imagination, like almost nonexistent! My husband knows when I give a certain look I, in fact, cannot see what he means and am about to lie and say “yes I know what you mean!” lol
When it’s time to do any decorating I begin researching. Pinterest, Instagram, and home décor magazines are my go-to. I develop a mood board of the vibe I am going for and start there.
Use What You Have To Decorate Your Home
Before you start buying things, figure out how you can use what you already have at home.
- Use fruit your family already enjoys as centerpieces
- Get pillow covers vs. new pillows
- Frame free fall printables you find online
- Chalkboards can be reused each season (as long as your handwriting is better than mine lol)
Shop Around Online To Compare Prices
Decorating your home for each season can get really pricy if you don’t plan! You don’t want to just buy the first thing you see! Shop around and be patient. That is why planning is important.
- Hobby Lobby is almost always 40% off
- Kirkland’s does daily deals on different items –I was able to get the throws for $12 each by watching for this
- At Home sends out coupons if you sign up for their rewards program
- Target also does 20% off home décor items but they sell out really fast so you really have to start early with them
- The Dollar Store is always a great idea
Visit A Pumpkin Patch / Local Grocery Store
Hopefully, you have already printed off my Fall Bucket List! If so, you are planning a trip to your local pumpkin patch, which is a great place for fall décor! I couldn’t wait for that trip so I found a bag of squashes and gourds at my local grocery. They were the perfect additions! Sprouts also has a great post on fun ways to decorate pumpkins!
Build Upon Your Vision And Take Pictures
Stepping back and taking a picture will help you see how it all works together! You can move things around and see which setup speaks to your spirit! You can also phone a friend and see if they have any suggestions.
No need to be intimated! Keep it light and fun! There more than likely isn’t a prize for the best-decorated home on the block. Do what makes you smile and feel like a good way to welcome the energy of a new season into your home!
I can’t wait to see how you all decorate your home! Tag me on social so I can enjoy it too 🙂
XOXO, Laya

I love the use what you have at home tip! I’ve accumulated a few things over the years and those things keep me from spending too much money at the stores.
