I don’t know about your mom, but my mom doesn’t need another gift! The older we get the harder it gets to shop for each other. We buy what we need at the moment and are blessed to have almost everything we want as well! That means we have to get more creative each year for Mother’s Day.
I have decided that it’s time to shift to experiences! It’s thoughtful, memorable, and doesn’t go unused. Below I will share a few ideas to get you thinking of a fun experience to gift your mom this year!
Concert Tickets
When is the last time your mom saw a concert? The good news about the more classic artists is they usually play smaller venues. She won’t have to worry about crazy crowds, traffic, or the stress that typically comes along with concerts.
Mommy Gift Basket
Moms are always thinking of others. I thoughtful gift basket is a great way to remind her how special she is throughout the day. Here are a few basket item ideas: a nice Coffee, a lux moisturizer, a gift card to her favorite lunch spot, and of course wine.
Brunch
This is perfect if you live near your mom! Of course, she can join in on the cooking if she wants, but a ladies-only brunch is always a good time! Come up with a fun menu, a few cocktails, or mimosas, and enjoy each other’s company!
You
We can all get so wrapped up in our everyday lives that we sometimes downplay the importance of quality time. Leave the kids and partner at home, and go spend some quality time with your mom. No phones, no completing of tasks, just true quality time. Watch her favorite movie, go get a manicure, or grab drinks, just set aside some time for you and her!
I remember visiting my wedding venue in Mexico, and my hubby couldn’t go. My mom and I went and we had the best time. It had been so long since we had done something with just the two of us!
Wine Tasting
If you are local, you can do this in person! Hit up Total Wine or a fun wine store, and ask for tasting notes! Then set up a fun wine tasting for you ladies to enjoy! If you are not local, set up a virtual one! Ship her a few bottles or arrange to have a friend drop some off! Have a contest of who can build the best charcuterie board and catch up!! Talk about motherhood, what she learned raising you, and things she wished she would’ve done differently.
I hope this short list got you thinking about something special you can do for your mom this Mother’s Day. It doesn’t have to be expensive, just intentional. Let me know how you all plan to celebrate Mother’s Day this year.
XOXO, Laya
